The Mohawk!

We had some of the cousins stay at our house for a week in June. Devan's younger cousin Justin had a Mohawk. Devan became infatuated with the idea of having a Mohawk of his own! So even though Devan has hair that seems to suction to his head like a toupee we gave it our best! He is sooooo proud of it! I have to admit it was pretty cute! And Mommy is happy that it has grown back in enough for school to start :)

Alexia Learns to Sew!

At the beginning of each year we do goal sheets with the kids. They each have a list of things they have to learn and or accomplish for the year. For example Aubrey: Potty Train, Devan: learn to make sandwiches. One of Alexia's goals was learn to sew a straight stitch on the sewing machine. She decided to make the cutest little pillow for Aubrey's new doll bead. That night when Devan said the bedtime prayer he said "thank you that Lexie could take her first "Ride" on Mommy's sewing machine!" Now Lexie wants to buy her own machine to "ride" on!

We had a blast this year! We went to a Round Rock Express game, had a BBQ and shot off a LOT of fireworks with some good friends!

So, if you are wondering why no new posts until now.......School, girlscouts, buddy group, and dance are out for the summer!!! Granted I only get a 2 week break on dance :) But I definitely have more free time that's for sure! Also I have been in mourning...I'm serious! My dear sweet husband permanently deleted the entire YEAR of photos from my computer! I wish I was kidding, but he really did and there is no way to get them back....(hence why there are no pictures from Christmas, Devan's Birthday, Easter, and all the other major events this year ;( But really I am going to be ok! Lesson learned....back up pictures on to disks more often, post to blog more often, and NEVER let dear sweet husband touch my computer ever again! :) So I am sure you will be hearing much more from the Kaley's this summer! Hope your summer is off to a GREAT start!

1st Piano Recital!

Alexia had her very first piano recital! She did AWESOME! When it was her turn she went up there like a champ! Not even phased by the 75 THOUSAND dollar piano she was about to play on in a room full of strangers! She started to play, and play and play.... I soon realized the my child had finished her song and was now improving! I was a little worried she wouldn't stop, but thankfully she did! She then stood up and with a huge smile gave a very dramatic bow! Gotta Love it! When I asked what happened to her song she said, "Well I thought I would do something different, and then I kinda liked it so I kept on going with it!" Can't wait for next years recital!

Lexie's Birthday Bash!

Welcome to Camp Lexieloo! Alexia decided on a camping theme for her 8th b-day party. So of course I had way too much fun planning it! We had 16 little gals come for a camp out sleepover! (Um ya, we were not expecting almost all the invitees to be able to come!) But even with the large number of campers we had a very successful party! With a scavenger hunt, hot dogs cooked over the fire, potato sack races,a bug catch on the trampoline, we watched the Parent Trap outside on the projection screen, and of course had S'mores!! All the girls slept outside in tents, there was no fighting, no tears, and everyone left in time in the morning for us to make it to Alexia's piano recital! Yes I know I'm crazy, but we all had a BLAST!

Alexia's Baptism Day!

We can not believe that Alexia is now 8!!! We are so proud of her for her decision to get baptized! Especially how serious she took it, she even took the missionary discussions! Cameron was thrilled at the chance to get to baptize his first born! What a special experience for us all! To make it even more special we had Gramma Kaley, Gramma Julie, and Aunt Katie fly in from Colorado. Along with all the Texas Aunts, Uncles and Cousins! What a time we all had together!

Broadway Review

What a BLAST!! In May I performed in a Broadway review for Ballet Austin. We featured numbers from every show currently on Broadway. From shows such as Chicago, Spamalot, Chorus Line, Hairspray, Grease, Spring Awakening, and on and on! As soon as I figure out how to upload some video I will put some clips from the show. Until then here are a few pics of me with some cast mates.

New Years 2008

In true Kaley fashion we were up well into the early morning hours! Alexia rocked the Karaoke! Devan rocked the dessert table! And Aubrey rocked my neighbors nail polish! At least she only got it all over her new outfit! In the end we all had a great time! Hence why we all looked so haggard in our end of the night photo ;)

So You think You can Dance!

I was forced against my will to attend a dance conference for an entire weekend at the Hyatt Lost Pines resort and spa! Let me tell ya, it was pretty rough! Truthfully though if you stripped away the beautiful atmosphere and delicious food it was 48 hours of leaping, kicking, turning, sweating (lots of sweating) and sore muscles! It was FABULOUS!!!Plus I got to spend 2 days with the winner of the TV show "So you think you can Dance" Benji Schwimmer! It was a GREAT weekend!

Texas Family Holiday

In December Katie came out to visit all of the Texas family so we had a little get together. Of course, hilarity ensued and good times were had by all! The cousins even wrote and performed their own play for us :)

Lost Tooth

Devan lost his 1st tooth last week!! And I do mean lost it! We think he may have eaten it. He's not sure where is went but it made him squeal with delight for about 3 hours! He had Alexia write a letter to the tooth fairy saying he had lost it. He jumped out of bed the next morning to find a letter from the tooth fairy, 2 quarters and a trail of fairy dust leading from his window to his pillow. He proudly wore fairy dust all over his face and hair to school that day. And proceeded to tell every one, I mean EVERY ONE about his tooth! When I went to pick him up I had several teachers, parents, and students tell me "Devan talked to me today!! He told me about his tooth!" He a pretty popular guy, our little Devan!

Mini Martha

For those of you who didn't know that we call Lexie "Mini Martha" or why we call her that here is a little example of why..... she does "projects" 24-7 this was her project after church on Sunday. She thought she would make a clown suit. It is all out of paper, string, masking tape, and good old duct tape! She made the shoes out of grocery bags and even put foot inserts inside made out of napkins. She made suspenders to hold up the skirt and even made a clown nose! I tell ya, that kid is never bored, its a beautiful thing!

Autism Walk

Our whole family participated in the walk now for Autism walk on Sat. Devan loved getting to see his old teachers, therapists, and friends from his special ed class from last year. There were a lot of great booths set up with all sorts of resources and information about autism, it was great! We had so much fun seeing all of our friends in the autism community and raising awareness for autism research. Thank you again to all of our family and friends who sponsored Devan! I made shirts for us all to wear to the walk. (forgot to take pics of the back of Camerons and mine) I put the list of sponsors on the back of Devans, there have been even more donations since the walk! Our hearts are so full of gratitude!

Cheer Showcase

We had our Cheerleading Showcase on Sat. after the Autism walk. What a busy day it was! We made a spirit sign for the girls to run through before their little dance. Had a little slide show for the parents and did a lot of cheering and dancing. So cute! I think Alexia is VERY glad its over. She has learned that Cheer is just not her thing. Although Mommy loved it! I think I will do it again next year :) Alexia can't wait to start Girl Scouts and piano lessons. We think that is much more up her ally!

Me and My Sissy

On the way home from the Road / fly trip I had a 3 hour lay over in Denver. So my sister Christy came down to DIA to have DELICIOUS lunch with me from my favorite CO restaurant, Youngs! Although, it made me miss her even more...I am so glad I got so see her!

Road Trip Baby o

Yes, I took a road trip...with OUT kids!! I flew into UT to meet up with my gal pal Betheny (one of the famous Whitman 14) and she and I drove to Vegas all by ourselves! What a blast we had! We did actually have a purpose I was going to attend my BFF from Jr. High / High schools wedding at the Rio. We had such a great time checking out all the sites and eating lots of YUMMY food! A trip I will never forget and one I am bound to repeat as often as I can!

Yay for Gramma Grubb!

We had the best time with Mommy's Gramma Grubb last week! We are very luck to have such a wonderful Gramma! Aubrey could not seem to get enough of her! The stories that were shared, the good food that was eaten, and the time that was spent will always be a special memory for us! Thank you for coming all the way out to Texas Gramma!

Halloween.....Aunt Tee Tee's Favorite Holiday :)

When Mommy got back from Vegas she realised..ooops!....Halloween is NEXT week! So in a very hurried rush costumes were purchased and pumpkins carved just in the nick of time! Miss Alexia was Elizabeth Swan (Pirates of the Caribbean) (Look for another appearance of her in this dress for my Senior Ballet production number in the spring recital) Although miffed about how much of her candy she can't actually eat due to braces she still took in a huge haul! Devan, for those of you not as obsessed with Star Wars as we are is Boba Fett the Bounty Hunter. In this case Candy hunter. Although he still said he was "All Done, time to go Home" after 5 houses. (He does this every year, a little too stimulating for him) Aubrey cheered us all on as a USA cheerleader and held her own against Big Sis Lexie in trick or treating!

Our Little Cheerleader

Alexia has been cheering for the Titan NFL flag football team this year. I have had a blast coaching her little squad of 10 girls! Personally I think she looks so darn cute in the uniform! Aubrey and Devan have been cheering their hearts out on the sidelines! We have the final tournament games this Saturday and then a Cheer Showcase for the parents next week to cap off the season. GO TITANS! Oh yeah, check out Lexie's new hardware! A mouth full, and I do mean FULL of metal, including a palate expander, I know Christy and Katie can remember what thats like ;)
